M-71 Crash Claims Life of Byron Woman

Paula Wooden, 67, of Byron was killed when the Chevy S-10 she was driving crossed the center line of M-71 shortly after noon on Tuesday, May 26th, and struck a semi traveling in the opposing lane head-on, authorities say.

The crash happened near Reed Road.  M-71 was closed for hours between Reed and Bennington.

The driver of the truck, a 38 year old man, was uninjured.

Wooden is said to have suffered a medical emergency that caused her vehicle to drift into the opposing lane.

A GoFundMe has been established to support the family with funeral costs.
