Durand City Hall is opening full-time for in-person activities starting September 28th with new, more flexible hours.  Historically City Hall has been open to the public from 8:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday and closed one hour from noon until 1:00pm each day. Under the revised schedule City Hall will be open from Monday through Thursday from 7:30am until 5:30pm with no lunch time closures. The change will result in City Hall being open two extra hours each day during peak visitor hours. The days and time frames selected were based on feedback from staff regarding peak hours for foot traffic prior to the pandemic.

The goal of these changes is to improve accessibility for those who find it difficult to access city services during the course of their own work day. The revised hours are also viewed as an opportunity to better accommodate voters seeking to register for absentee voting or those wishing to submit their completed absentee ballots in person. City Hall will also be open Saturday, October 31st from 7am until 3pm for voters who wish to turn in an existing absentee ballot or to register and cast an absentee ballot in person that date.

Durand Mayor, Deborah Doyle shares, “We are extremely pleased to be able to offer a more flexible schedule for our local residents, especially during this upcoming election season. We hope this change will help our staff to better serve resident needs.” Mayor Pro Tem Dr. Brian J. Boggs adds “We understand that City Hall needs to adapt to the times. Our priority is to ensure that City Hall is open and equipped to meet the needs of all local residents.”

The change will remain effective through November 6th at which time the City Council will consider whether to permanently implement the change and expand it to include other departments. Residents are encouraged to share their comments about these proposed changes via social media or by calling City Hall at (989) 288-3113.
